Youth Mock Trial ry · Finland

The law shouldn’t be reserved for only university students. High schoolers deserve the same opportunity to explore it.

We’re a non‑profit youth association creating opportunities that give high school students real access to the field of law.

Our mission

Making law accessible to high schoolers

Youth Mock Trial ry exists to expand access to legal education for high school students in Finland. We create practical, hands‑on opportunities to explore the law, build confidence, and make informed decisions about future studies — while learning skills that matter in any career.

We organise competitions, panels and workshops, and connect students with legal professionals who volunteer their time. Our programmes are built around diversity, equal opportunity and early engagement with the field.

Our events are open to every student in Finland — no prior knowledge, no debate background, no fees.

What we do

Programmes & Initiatives

Real trial practice

Teams argue the same case as both prosecution and defence, in front of judges and lawyers who give real feedback.

Argumentation workshops

Opening statements, cross-examination and closing arguments — public speaking skills that carry far beyond a courtroom.

Understanding the law

Accessible ways to learn how Finnish law works in practice — including organised court visits to see lawyers at work.

Panel discussions

Conversations with lawyers, judges and law students about their careers, plus the chance to ask your own questions.

Please note: as a volunteer-run association, our programmes depend on the volunteers, partners and venues available each season. Events may change, move or be cancelled, and not every programme runs every year.
